Duratec Performance: Viewing the portal page
07/28/08 10:22 AM Duratec Newbie by grahamb

Hi everyone

I've seen the light, and I'm about to swap my 2.0 Zetec for a 2.0 Duratec, and will be calling on these forums for some expertise and guidance.

Hopefully I can also share some of the things I discover along the way.

I run the http://www.zetecinside.com web site, and i've registered http://www.duratecinside.com too, so I can help build an online guide to modifying and using the Duratec engine in kit cars etc.

I'm starting with a 2.0 Duratec from a Ford Fiesta ST150. It'll be rebuilt and transplanted in to my Mk1 Ford Fiesta, and used for Hillclimbing and Sprinting in the UK.

Here's the engine and IB5 gearbox ready for fitting in August.

I've removed 31Kg of unwanted bits off the engine, so far.

Regards
Graham

Hi, Ford does not provide B/E or Mains torque settings (even to Dealers). Does anyone know what they should be ?

07/03/08 01:16 PM Curved intake manifold by xr4racer

I have used Jenvey products to fit quad throttle bodies in a 2007 Fiesta XR4 (ST150). As the rules I race under do not allow the Airhorns to protude up through the bonnet I fitted curved spacers between the manifold and TB's. This means that even 40mm airhorns project into the radiator support panel.

After extensive tuning only 5hp was gained over the standard manifold with larger single throttle body that I had fitted before.

The quad throttle setup just doesn't work properly because all the lengths are wrong. The only way I can see to fix it is to find/fabricate a new manifold with longer, downswept runners. Does such a manifold already exist ?

06/20/08 12:51 PM Why does a duratec need to know the vehicle speed? by Jaws

Hi

My speedo sometimes stops working which also causes the engine to backfire. I suspect there’s a problem vehicle speed sensor and, looking at the wiring, I noticed the ECU takes a feed from the sensor. My question is - why does the duratec or ECU need to know the vehicle speed?
